2022 MMC Emergency Medicine Winter Symposium

This 40th annual Maine Chapter ACEP winter symposium will present a broad spectrum of emergency medicine related topics. Designed to assist the active emergency care provider in both topical and classical areas of emergency medicine, this course will be useful for other health practitioners who may encounter or have an interest in urgent and emergent situations. 

1. demonstrate competent in the procedure of placing a TV pacer, airway, surgical airway, chest tube, lateral canthotomy.
2. explain how to competently diagnose and manage several critical care topics: traumatic brain injury, pediatric fever, acute mountain illness, aortic stenosis, agitation in the ED, subarachnoid hemorrhage, COVID therapeutics, emergency department operations, Pediatric Life Support, Navigating code status.
3. describe the indications and technique for bedside ultrasound for trauma.
4. describe the efficacy (or lack thereof) for various COVID therapeutics.

In support of improving patient care, Maine Medical Center (MMC) is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.
