A.              Personal Statement
Amanda has been a nurse for 10 years and a state certified SAFE for 7 years.  She is Bachelors prepared in nursing through Western Govenor's University.  She has worked in the emergency department as a travel nurse and at St. Joseph's Hospital, Bangor for 6 years. At Hope Rising: Residential program for survivors of Human Trafficking, Amanda has worked directly with residents for 5 years. Amanda completed an internship at The Children's Hospital of Pittsburg in 2017 within the child abuse clinic and Child Advocacy Center. In 2018 she became an internationally certified Sexual Assault Nurse examiner SAFE exam for adult and pediatrics.

As an active participant in the Sexual Assault Nursing Community, Amanda is teaching in the state certification class, participates on the SAFE advisory board, precepts clinical days and does outreach to colleges, hospitals and communities. While a part of St. Joe's Sexual Assault Program, Amanda worked on prevention in the community as well as care for patient who have suffered sexual assault. Amanda and her colleagues performed outreach with high risk populations at local homeless shelters including the adolescent shelter, Shaw house and the Bangor Area Adult Homeless Shelter.  They have partnered with Salvation Army and remain active participants with the Penobscot County SART/START teams.

Amanda's working hard to be on the forefront of care for victims/survivors of commercial sex and labor trafficking.  As a result of this work, she has been invited to present on Human Trafficking at the New England EMT conference, University of Maine, The New England conference on Human trafficking and Husson University.

We believe that all survivors deserve to have a voice.  Amanda is in a position to facilitate change in the personal and professional arena for victims.  She is honored to ally with them for real change.
