Trauma STN: Maxillofacial and Ocular Injury

The purpose of this activity is to provide an education experience in the field of maxillofacial and ocular injuries in trauma patients. The activity will define the kinds of injuries, how they are present in trauma patients, and how to proceed with care

1. Identify the key anatomical structures of the face and eye and the impact of force on those structures.
2. Discuss assessment priorities for a patient with maxillofacial and ocular injuries.
3. Prioritize the care of a patient with facial and ocular injuries.
4. Discuss psychosocial support for a patient with maxillofacial and ocular injuries.

In support of improving patient care, Maine Medical Center (MMC) is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team. MMC can accredit continuing education activities with the following credit types: Interprofessional Continuing Education (IPCE), Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB), American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA), and American Psychological Association (APA).
