Professional Development Coaching

This professional coaching program includes six sessions. Each session includes key readings, activities using brief tools, and a 1:1 meeting with a certified physician professional development coach.

1. Identify the evidence base for professional coaching around fulfillment.
2. Explore the power of coaching for fulfillment and improving specific skills.
3. Identify the components of your professional life for which you would like to receive coaching.
4. Review how personal (and organizational) values influence our behaviors and our risk for burnout.
5. Identify behavioral strengths and weaknesses, and blind spots as observed by peers, and consider how values are related these behaviors.
6. Evaluate your communication style and identify the general categories of communication styles as identified by the DiSC assessment.
7. Explore how you can flex your communication style to work more effectively with key colleagues and others.
8. Review the concept of Emotional Intelligence and begin to learn or extend the principles of self-awareness and self-management.
9. Evaluate your own social awareness and relationship management skills using emotional intelligence concepts.
10. Identify your strengths and competencies and use of the purpose statement as a tool for transformation.
11. Describe opportunities for improving professional impact.
12. Evaluate activities that bring you joy at work, and recognize your ability to adjust your work to maximize joy.
13. Create new habits, including scheduled reflection time to pursue activities that enhance professional satisfaction and work-life balance, and work towards goals in your intention statement.
